Hot Cross Buns in Food stores (Woolworths)

In todays Courier Mail newspaper on page 3 was a story that stated that “Woolworths were responding to customer demands by stocking Hot Cross Buns from January.

This is CRAP!

Woolworths (and other supermarkets) are stocking this religious icon in an attempt to increase profits. Hot cross buns were originally designed to go on ale just before Easter.

If, as head of Woolworths Bakery ,Simon Lunn, says it is by consumer demand, Woolworths would gain more praise if they

(a) sold the same buns without the cross, prior to Easter

(b) donated a small percentage of the price (say one cent per bun) to the  churches in their suburb
